Yancey Lowndes Burton

Yancey Lowndes Burton, business man, was born near Chisholm Ferry, Tallapoosa County, November 6, 1858; son of Jacob Townsend and Mary Jane (Brooks) Burton, the former of Meriwether County, Georgia, the latter of Chambers County; grandson of Jacob and Rachel (Sewell) Burton, of Madison County, Georgia, and of Jefferson and Elizabeth Brooks, and great-grandson of an English emigrant to Virginia; his father was in Co. I, Eighth Mississippi Cavalry Regiment, Confederate States Army.

Mr. Burton obtained his education in the schools of Lafayette; is a farmer and merchant. He is a Democrat and an Odd Fellow. He was representative from Chambers County in the legislature, 1915.

Married:
In 1884, to Fannie Hampton, the daughter of Dr. Hampton Hill and Mary Ann (Jones) Flint, of Monroe County, Georgia.

Children:
1. Clyde, m. Harry D. Driver;
2. Linwood Pierce;
3. Evyline Mary.

Residence:
Lafayette.
